Maths tuition

Mrs Thompson's and Mrs Cliffe's maths club groups joined together this week to explore positional language. They practiced giving directions with clear instructions to move through an obstacle course. The children all developed their maths vocabulary and enjoyed the challenge! Well done!

Year 3 Mini Beast Hunt

Year 3 had a super day, yesterday, with their special visitor, Emily. She took them on a mini beast hunt around the school, where they carefully unturned bricks or peeped through cracks in the wall to find mini beasts. Then they identified them using some charts. Next, they made their very own tiny mini beast hotel, which will be put up around the school to attract new visitors! Big thanks to Emily.

Photos to come.

5S learning science the practical (and the MESSY) way!!

Is a mixture of cornflour and water a liquid or a solid? Or both!
Rub your hands together and see......

Where shall we put this balloon?
 What about that sponge?
Loosen those molecular bonds and act like a gas!
Strengthen the bonds to act like a liquid...

but the molecular bonds in solids cannot move freely....
but in the end I think 5S enjoyed being gases best!!!

100% Attendance!!!

Well done to 5B who won the attendance last week with 100%! A great effort. Well done all. :-)

Year 6 told us about about their visit to the zoo and the subsequent non chronological reports they wrote:

Children In Need raised £190 pounds :-). Well done to all the people who dressed in spots and donated. Our school council announced the winners of the Pudsey colouring competition:

Year 4 Maths Challenge!

Over the last two Tuesdays, year 4 children have been to the academy to take part in some maths challenges set up by year 7 pupils. The children needed to use their knowledge to take part in lots of different games and tasks. They thoroughly enjoyed the afternoons and it was lovely to see some familiar faces in the year 7 pupils!
