Year 4 Coding.

To help the children understand how computers require clear, simple and concise instructions, they had to guide a robot (their teacher!) to make a jam sandwich.
The children were introduced to vocabulary like algorithms (the instructions), bug (a problem with the program) and debug (fixing the problem).
Problems arose when children instructed the robot to lower their hand down. The obedient robot followed the instruction and ended up with their hand in the butter!
Needless to say, the sandwich did not look appetising at the end!

Jam sandwiches? Robots?

Today year 5 had to program their robot teachers to make jam sandwiches. They had to give us step by step instructions to get the job done. The computer only does what it is told so directions have to be very precise.

The sandwiches did not look very appetising so the instructions may need some work.
